Heavenly Realm Blessings

Study on Ephesians Part One

We are blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Our position in God is everything. God is generous with His blessing, even to those who do not believe. BUT some specific blessings and promises are conditional.  

The condition? 

Unity with Christ.

Unity: ”the state of being one; oneness; the quality or state of not being multiple”

As believers, we, like Paul, have been chosen for something. Paul was an avid student of the Word and a gifted writer. He had both a commanding and inviting demeanor as he drew people to the gospel and encouraged them in Christ. He was both bold and gentle. He rebuked and encouraged. His timing was impeccable. He knew when he needed to press harder and when he needed to take a more gentle approach. He followed the lead of His Savior and molded himself in oneness with Christ. Because of his commitment and determination, there was not a single blessing that was withheld from him. He received every one of them!

What heavenly realm blessings did he experience?

Assurance of his position in Christ. He knew he was chosen and that was his sure foundation from which every building block of his life’s purpose was laid.  

He experienced peace as he was put in chains for preaching the message of love and repentance 

He experienced grace and redemption with the knowledge of who he was as a persecutor of Christians and who he became as a follower of Christ.

He experienced mercy as Christ ministered to him amid his afflictions

He had joy in his heart and a song in the night, though his hands and feet were bound, his spirit was free.  

He was given a spirit of compassion and love even for those who would hold him captive.

Had Paul not resolved to walk in oneness with Christ, not when times were good but because times were tough, he would have a much different story. Would we even know his story?

How do we put ourselves in positions for “Spiritual Realm Blessings”?

• Do you know you are a child of God, or are you simply just trying to be a good person?

• Are you following Christ, or do you expect Christ to keep up with you?

• When you think of being “one with Christ,” do you think of standards you should change or standards Christ should change?

• Do you want to fit in the lifestyle of Christ, or do you want Christ to fit into your lifestyle?

If you answered “yes” to the first scenario and not the second, you are in the position of receiving “Spiritual Realm Blessings.”

It is that simple.  Know Him and follow Him.  Allow Christ to do the work in you as He draws you ever nearer to Himself.  Experience His grace and mercy.  His faithfulness and patience as he makes all things beautiful in your life in HIS time.

Our Christian walk is a journey, and when we take the lead, the journey does not go well.  But when we follow the lead of Christ, exemplified in the Word of God, we experience His presence even in the most difficult situations.
